Friday Devotions
Good morning Powell Church family and friends! This Friday love article is coming to you early today. Why? Because I want to invite you into this day which we call Good Friday. It’s the day we remember God’s ultimate act of love offered to us, for us. Today is the day we remember Jesus’ death, but for Christians, we understand his death to be more than just a death; Jesus’ death is a sacrifice offered on our behalf for the forgiveness of sin and the restoration of our lives into a right relationship with God. This day tells us of God’s Friday Love for us.
Join us for 7 devotions beginning at 9:00 A.M. There will be a devotion at the top of every hour, and we will conclude with a devotion at 3:00 P.M. (the time Luke’s gospel tell us that Jesus spoke his last words and took his last breath). Every hour, we will look at one of the seven sayings that Jesus spoke from the cross (our tradition calls these “The Seven Last Words of Christ”), and then there will do a brief reflection on them. These readings and devotions should take about five minutes each. So, join us on our church’s Facebook page or our YouTube page at the top of every hour beginning at 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. May we hear God’s love story spoken to us once again…..today is truly a Good Friday!
